Putting speculations to rest, director-producer Karan Johar said that his forthcoming film "My Name Is Khan", that has Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in main leads, has nothing to do with terrorism. "M y Name Is Khan' has nothing to do with terrorism. It is not a terrorism-based plot at all. It is a humanitarian tale about love and sacrifice, "Karan told reporters after unveiling the first look of "My Name Is Khan" at JW Marriot Hotel here Wednesday. The film's story revolves around Rizwan Khan (Shah Rukh) who suffers from Asperger syndrome, a form of autism. Rizwan falls in love with a single mother Mandira(Kajol) who lives in San Francisco. Rizwan is detained by authorites at Los Angeles International Airport, mistaking his disability for "suspicious" behaviour.
"It is about overcoming a phase, it is about triumph of the human spirit," said Karan. Shah Rukh and Karan's last outing together "Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna" couldn't spell magic at the box office. But the superstar seems to be pretty impressed with Karan's work in "My Name Is Khan" said that the film is the ultimate evolution of the director's work. "I have worked with Karan in his first film 'Kuch Kuch Hota Hai' and has been with him all through his journey. I think 'My Name Is Khan' is his ultimate evolution," said Shah Rukh. "In this film, the way Karan has touched upon the scenes and sequences, it is very different from his all previous films," he added. The film is slated to release Feb 12 next year.

John Abraham Now Produces A Film On Tiger Preservation

Actor John Abraham is deeply attached to the idea of wildlife conservation. So it comes as no surprise to know that he will now produce a film on tiger preservation to be directed by internationally renowned filmmaker Mike Pandey. The documentary film entitled "The Return Of The Tiger" will address the alarming disapperance of the species. "I decided to produce the film because I truly believe tigers are on the most magnificent creatures on this planet. And if we don't take quick and immediate action to preserve them there will be no tigers left, "John told IANS.
Through the film, which will be screened in the documentary section of film festivals and at wildlife-preservation summits, John and Pandey hope to create a certain amount of global awareness about the urgent need to preserve the tiger. "This film is far too important in terms of its message. I decided to produce it after I met Pandey. He's such a lovely man, so committed to capturing the essence of nature on camera. I just decided to get committed to Mike's level of commitment," said John who wowed everyone with his performance in "New York".

Avatar' breaks records, Global earnings top $250mn

Avatar', the new movie by 'Titanic' director Avatar-poster, broke the US record for new releases in December, earning $80 million on its debut weekend, Twentieth Century Fox said Monday. Previously the studio estimated that the film had earned $73 million, but an especially strong showing Sunday, fuelled by repeat viewers and strong word of mouth, significantly increased the films earnings, despite a strong snowstorm in the eastern US that kept many potential ticket-buyers at home. The futuristic science fiction epic, shown with new 3D technology that was 12 years in the making, took in an additional $160 million internationally, even though it is yet to be released in lucrative markets like China or Japan.
Fox has not revealed how much the movie cost to produce. But the New York Times estimated that the production and marketing budget combined reached $460 million, not including a $30 million tax credit. With a total take of more than $236 million, the film has already recouped half of its total budget. 'The reported large budget for the film was obviously money well spent as the film is on its way to a potential near billion dollars in global receipts,' said Hollywood.com's box office analyst Paul Degarabedian. 'With stunning and groundbreaking visuals in 3-D, the film will continue to generate massive interest around the world.' The five-star hotel where she is performing on December 31, is also hosting her private party on its premises the same night. While unofficial sources claim it's a whopping amount(almost two crore for 15 minutes) Bipasha herself remains tight-lipped about it. When asked about the remuneration, Bips says, "All i will say its great money and they have offered me the same deal that i got two years ago with another hotel. And it's been two years, so the rates would have gone up. Naturally the amount has to be very big or i wouldn't be doing it." She adds, "I might even do some songs from '70s."
While the Abrahams will cheer her on stage, her own family won't be in the city to see her perform. Vara Prasad is the son of Late Sri Venkat Rao and Srimathi Anjana Devi. The Blood Bank of the CCT helped over 80,000 people and the Eye Bank has helped about 1000 people in the State of Andhra Pradesh since its opening. Recently CCT has reached one more landmark by crossing the 100,000 mark in collecting the blood and more than 96,000 people were helped with blood by this blood bank.
